NJ.com recently surveyed weather agencies & meteorologists about winter weather conditions for New Jersey this winter.

The consensus seems to be that New Jersey residents are in for a chilly winter ahead with mixed precipitation, but there are no solid predictions of above-average snowfall or extreme weather conditions.
There is an anticipated development of a La NiƱa weather pattern. This happens when Pacific temperatures are warmer than normal, and can lead to more mild winters. However, there are exceptions- such as the winter of 2010-2011, when NJ got covered with around 50 inches of snow.
The mix of arctic air from the north with warmer air masses from tropical regions will lead to volatile weather over the next few months.
